Phaedranassa cinerea
Amaryllidaceae
April-May
this is the best known representative of this South American genus. P. cinerea is considered to be diffult to grow, what can be ascribed to the fact that bulbs aren't frequently offered. If you follow a couple of basic rules P. cinerea is quite easy to grow. The bulbs are planted early spring with the neck of the bulbs just above the surface of the soil. They are grown in a non heated greenhouse. When the leaves start to die off in autumn, stop the watering. During the dormant period the bulbs are stored at a temperature of 10-15 oC. Phaedranassa cinerea can be propagated by seeds.
