L. modesta is closely related to Gloriosa superba. Littonia modesta is more easy to grow than G. superba. L. modesta has also some minuspoints: it's a climbing plant off which the stem can reach a lenght of 2-3 meters and the flowers only appear in the top part of the plant. The bell shaped flowers are orange coloured. The plant can be propagated by seeds.
