this miniature Iris has its habitat to North America. The leaves are 5-10 cm long. Iris lacustris forms rhizomes. It flowers first in July and the flowering period ends in September. Most other known Iris species flower in spring. The rhizomes grow just below the surface of the soil or on top of it. It's best therefore to cover the plants with old leaves, soil at the beginning of he winter.
